This is a very attractive low-growing perennial plant with felted grey leaves and long sprays of dark magenta/maroon flowers. The flower stems continue to grow longer with more buds developing ensuring a long-lasting display from spring into winter. In its native South Africa, the tuberous roots are used as a treatment for bronchitis and other chest ailments.
